I think it is amazing that this had to become an issue - we all know it's all about the money...

art day

I have nagging things in my head this Saturday morning,- little bits of “housekeeping” I need to do but so do not want to – these things extinguish the muse – they put me in a place that is so concrete and practical, so 21st century. I will do these things though because, just as I have to clean the kitchen before I cook, I have to take care of business before I create – it’s just that tiny fragment of left brain functioning that I have that directs me.
I have an art show tonight and I am so grateful about that – I hope I sell so I can paint more! The show is sandwiched between two Mardi Gras parades so I have hung a lot of small pieces – perfect sizes to fit in tourists'suitcases! And during this time, Elizabeth will be part of a flash mob in the lobby of the art center – showcasing a dance from a musical she is in! It will be cold but it will be a night filled with art. And…the twins are in Colorado during all of this, creating works of art in a kitchen – I’m happy! More than that, more than “happy”, I am grateful. This entry is my primer for what I hope my day will eventually become – a day filled with creative words, small paintings, food and dance…
What art offers is space - a certain breathing room for the spirit.

Longer Days

I don’t know about the groundhog but I do know my hens are saying it’s nearly spring – they are finally laying again, longer days mean more eggs.
I was at work today thinking about a lot of things – thinking about how beautiful the day was and how I did not see it or experience it . Now, it is gone. I have such an internal conflict with this type of thing – God gives us these beautiful moments and we are stuck inside. But then, I think, I should be thankful to have a job??? So confusing. I think that down deep my soul tells me I should be enjoying the beautiful moment. I don’t understand how I have gotten so far away from my beginning. I hope I find myself back there one day. In the meantime, I will be grateful for a job that gives me an income that helps my family. I am not writing this to complain – I am just questioning…

health

To keep the body in good health is a duty...otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

It's all good

I am still riding this wave of contentedness. I think maybe I am in control of this new found feeling, that it isn’t something that happened to me, it is something I conceived and now my perceptions have become my realities (to quote my cousin, Glenda).I think it all has to do with two things – scratching off bunches of items on the “want” list and staying in spirit, constantly. Living this way is so freeing. I have always been a bit bohemian but this level I have achieved is incredible. On the rare occasion I find myself slipping into the propaganda that is society, I can quickly dismiss it by reminding myself how little and incidental all of that “stuff” is and I am instantly back in spirit. It’s funny but I do care about the details of my life – like it’s important that I use fresh garlic and juice only organics but it is not important if the "granite" countertop is cracked! I think my art has a lot to do with my perceptions – art and spirit blankets my life and all else is unimportant to me, all else meaning things and situations – not people and relationships. Anyway, I wish that everyone could find a way to get through the useless muck that is being thrown at us constantly and quit buying into the garbage that is polluting our lives  - I hope you try – it is so wonderful to
