Hero
Definition of hero -
remarkably brave person,
somebody who commits an act of remarkable bravery or who has shown an admirable quality such as great courage or strength of character.
There is a clay pot that needs a flower, shutters that need a coat of white paint, and a garden that needs tending, but most importantly, there is the American flag, visible at the back door, waving as it should, on Memorial Day. It is there, in honor of our heroes, the real ones, not the bogus ones the media tells us to honor and model ourselves after.
“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”
Arthur Ashe
Like many other holidays in our country, Memorial Day has become a comedy of errors. Sadly, for many of us, the meaning gets lost in the beer. I wish there were no war and no need for soldiers, but it seems Plato may have been right
“Only the dead have seen the end of war.”
Till next time,
