"21"

I’m back, I think. I began this web site/blog in an effort to remind myself and whoever else cares to read it, of the goodness in the small things in our days. It seems I have had to stray lately from this idea; life does that every now and then. It challenges who you are and tries to side track you and sometimes cunningly convince you that maybe you are something else. Well, all I can say is that it feels good to be back here, to be in touch with my keyboard sorting out my thoughts. My thoughts have been complicated lately and I have just been too busy to do the restorative things, like this blog. I have read a couple of good books, however and have put in most of my garden. I have also been enjoying my family; my twins are 21 today! All else is not worth writing about. I am posting two pictures; one is of some Texas Bluebonnets and a red geranium I will soon plant and the other is a curious shot of what I believe to be the rudimentary beginnings of a bird's nest. This will be interesting to watch.

Seeing (5/4/08 - 2/18/12) There they were, as I walked along the sidewalk that time and drought had lifted and cracked, the first fireflies of summer. They were scattered throughout the dark woods and at the very moment I saw their iridescent magic. I watched as they blinked and I forgot, for a moment, all that might have been wrong and remembered, instead, all that was right.There should be a place somewhere in our lives that encourages us to reflect and to appreciate the extraordinary gifts of nature, along with the ordinary things that make up our lives. The more time passes, the more I understand how important it is to take notice of all the simple things that are woven into my day. I hope to continue to discover and, with this blog, share those things that are close to the Earth and there for us always, while we are busy looking somewhere else.

Saying (2/19/12 - ongoing)

I think today is the day things will change here on "sketches of my day". I started this blog to showcase positives in my day, a place that combatted the negativities we are constantly bombarded with and instead became a place where the sun shines all the time. Well, I am changing a bit, I want to just write with complete honesty instead –" sketches of my day " will be just that, snapshots from the day, real ones, – I don’t do this to be egotistical; I do it to be helpful. I know that it is always a good thing to read about others and identify with their situations and then take what you need for your own life – that’s networking and sharing. I suppose it may seem a bit narcissistic but it isn’t – I just like to write and I feel that if I didn’t write or paint I’d go crazy – I must and this blog is such a great place for me because I can just throw it out there and someone may or may not read it and if they do they may be inspired by it – it’s a winning deal. So, with all of that proclaimed, I will begin again with this collection of thoughts, consequent words and a scattering of paintings to share the sketches of my day… pam shensky
